Webster City’s Low Median Home Price and Extensive Park System Were Noted as an Attractive Amenity
Webster City, Iowa: Webster City was Name in the Top 8 of Most Affordable Towns to Retire in Iowa by WorldAtlas.com. The median home price was noted as comfortable for retirees. The communities’ extensive park system was found to be impressive, notably Briggs Woods Park and Wilson Brewer Park.
Briggs Woods Park, Iowa’s first county park, was donated to the people of Hamilton County by the Briggs Family. Briggs Woods Park has grown from the original 60 acres to 544 acres, that includes campsites, trails, river access, playgrounds, a 62-acre lake, cabin, shelters, and even waterfalls!
Wilson Brewer Park recognizes the history and heritage of the Webster City area. The park includes: Historic Log Cabins, the Original Hamilton County Courthouse, Country School House, Mulberry Center Church, and the Illinois Central Railroad Depot. More recently community members sourced and secured a train caboose adjacent to the historic depot. Visitors are welcome to tour the buildings and depot museums on Friday and Saturday from May 1st – October 31st.
Local community-based venues were also highlighted including the Webster City Community Theatre, where the curtain goes up on fantastic local theater throughout the year. The volunteer-organized theatre features comedies, dramas, musicals, youth shows and holiday plays.
There are also options for active seniors such as a recently-expanded 24/7 fitness club, SNAP Fitness, in addition, to the local trail systems.
