Our team seeks to add a Full-Time Insurance Customer Service Representative, working with our grain and livestock farming clients.

Basic Function:

The Crop and Farm Insurance Customer Service Representative is the service link between the insurance agency, client and the carriers represented by the agency. A friendly, customer-service oriented personality and a positive, cooperative attitude are paramount. Provide current clients and prospects with quality service, assist agency with prospecting and sales activities. The essential duties of the position include providing service to new and existing accounts, provide assistance to producers, maintaining the highest degree of relationships between the producer, client, companies and agency personnel.

Essential Job Duties for Farm:

  • Responsible for an assigned book of business which may include more complex accounts.
  • Responsible for customer service needs of the office’s farm insurance clients
  • Process farm insurance policy changes and cancellations
  • Proof all changes and cancellations.
  • Process company correspondence.
  • Provide assistance to clients with regards to insurance coverage-answer clients questions related to their coverage(s) or policy status. This includes both in-person and telephone inquiries.
  • Receives company correspondence relating to a new application, document it into the agency system and follows up with producer.
  • Re-shop client insurance coverage(s) due to premium increase and/or client dissatisfaction
  • As directed by management will provide notification assistance to clients with additional options offered by their insurance company when a new product is introduced, i.e. new farm coverage options.
  • Assist agency producers with new prospects/clients; i.e. quoting to find the best market/premium.
  • Assist agency producers with retention with their book of business.
  • Provide clerical assistance to agency producer
  • Assist producer with completion of applications
  • Will verify department compliance with agency polices and workflows.
  • Participate with producer(s) in a prospect and client call program when requested
  • Determine distribution of returned premium checks received from company
  • Has inside involvement with customers and company representatives; may accompany producer(s) on sale presentations
  • Participate in monthly farm team meetings to review expiration lists & company review questionnaires

Essential Job Functions for Crop:

  • Responsible for assigned book of business which may include more complex accounts
  • Prepare, organize, print and create e-file copies of crop applications and reporting form documents, insured checklists and CSA’s workflows needed for Sales Closing Date(SCD), Acreage Reporting Date(ARD) and Production Reporting Date (PRD)
  • Update Excel hail charts for hail season as directed
  • Complete and key Sales Closing Date forms Production Reporting forms for entry, submission and upload to the crop companies, agency wide
  • Complete Acreage Reporting forms from information certified on the Farm Service Agency’s 578 Detail & Map. Verify the accuracy of the 578 detail, map, and share % with the crop reporting forms and any private product policies. Key and submit information to crop companies, agency wide.
  • Follow agency workflows, procedures and complete agency checklists for each season
  • Each season, review for accuracy and completeness crop reporting forms for crop agents and the crop department, agency wide
  • Update EPIC, transact and prepare documents for mailing to the client and imaging for all policy types on new, renewal and endorsements, agency wide
  • Report claims to companies and complete claim paperwork as directed. Monitor crop company websites for up to date correspondence and claim payments for claims
  • Provide customer service to agents and crop company staff as needed for crop seasons and claims
  • Prepare and assist in distribution of mailings or newsletters i.e., monthly seasonally, annually. As necessary for crop year’s needs.
  • Provide assistance to Crop Manager and Assistant Crop Manager as directed
  • Create, prepare and print mapping booklets for crop clients, agency wide
  • Attend Crop Basics and/or Spring Update Classes annually
  • Assist in the planning and organizing of any crop farmer meetings or events as requested
