Summer Nights, downtown Webster City, returns on June 20 from 5 to 9 pm. The theme of the night is BE A HERO and there will be opportunities for you to participate in being a hero in Webster City.
The Lions Club will be serving burgers, chips and a drink for $5. The Lions Club is driven to perform community service in 208 countries and geographic areas - are different in many ways, but share a core belief: community is what we make it. They take donations of eye glasses and hearing aids and are heroes to those who need to see and hear better.
HERO, Help Entertain and Restore Organization, will be selling popcorn and snacks at the movie theater to help stay on track to re-open the movie theater by early September. You’ll be able to take a sneak peek at the theater, enjoy the cool air inside and eat some movie theater popcorn! You can be a HERO and help save the Webster Theater.
First American Bank has partnered with local volunteers and Be The Match to give people a chance to learn more about bone marrow donations. You’ll be able to sign up on the spot to be a donor (and give a cheek swab) or take information home with you. They will have a 50/50 Raffle with one person winning 50% of the raffle amount collected and the remainder going to National and Local Be The Match programs. Peterson Construction will bring down their Sky Jack and give rides up to look over the city. Costs will be $5 for adults and $2 for kids and all proceeds go to support Be A Hero/Be A Match. The opportunity to donate a dollar (or more) and have your name on the plaque will be placed at locations around town. 50% of the funds raised will go support local people who need bone marrow matches and 50% will support Be The Match program.
Building Families and Bee Inspired CAPP Program is partnering with Family Community Action Team to encourage children and families to come down and be a hero. They will have interactive booths where children of all ages can make masks and capes and be everyday heroes.
Crimestoppers will be hosting the Nickel Scramble. It’s a chance for kids to scramble through the sand and find money. Crimestoppers are heroes all year round and help keep the bad guys off the street.
Nick Woolley of 15 Below Zero Photography will be set up to take pictures of heroes and a portion of the proceeds will go to Be The Match. Bring the kids (and the adults!) and have an 8 x 10 photo taken professionally for only $12.
The Chamber of Commerce encourages other organizations to contact them to talk about ways they can participate in this Summer Nights and give everyone a chance to Be A Hero! Contact Deb Brown at 515-832-2564 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.
